KingsWay Christian Ministries – - – WHAT is that? Well, what it isn’t – it is NOT a church! Generally, the major difference between a church and a ministry is that the latter is a specialized entity based around a (Christian) theme or work. There are “independent” Christian schools or nurseries, “food kitchens”, prison ministries, foreign and domestic missionary work, etc. We do not have a “congregation” but use a core of volunteers to carry out our work.
In the case of KingsWay, we are primarily a teaching ministry. You might say that there is teaching in/at the church and that is true. However, we carry that effort (teaching) a step beyond in that we hold seminars, conferences, retreats, etc. In that manner we are able to “teach” a subject beyond what time allows during the 20-60 minutes allotted on a Sunday or mid-week service. A two or three-day weekend conference on a particular subject or theme allows for a more complete expository of a subject, plus allowing for questions to be fielded or a time for general discussion.
A typical event that KingsWay might organize is to first pray about and seek input on what special subject or theme is needed for the particular area. Some examples might be: “How To Maintain a Good Christian Home As Wife & Mother” or “The Role of the Husband in a Christian Home”, “Christianity Under Peer Pressure (school or work)”, “Your Faith In The Workplace.” We would also have themes that are not “pure” Christian but would enhance one’s walk. For instance, we have held classes on crafts and work skills, computer training, public speaking, house cleaning, etc. These types of “secular” training sessions (infused with Christian ethics) help people to be more productive in the competitive work force.
(At KingsWay Ministries, over time, we have held meetings touching all the above subjects. During the past 10 years we have had over 100 conferences & as many guest speakers in a number of venues in the USA and Canada).
We would then arrange for a meeting place (conference/convention center, a church fellowship hall, etc.). After that we would coordinate the guest speaker(s) and musicians and the dates for the meeting, prepare the publicity tools – radio/TV, newspaper, Internet (WEB Site and e-mail), mail-out brochures and letters, etc. If a particular church is involved, we would elicit help from their staff & congregation.
Typically, we do not charge for our services. However, we ensure that there is a method in place to cover expenses for the above plus a gratuity for the guest speakers & musicians. Those things are worked out at the onset of planning an event.
KingsWay Ministries is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation and we give tax-deductible receipts for donations. No salaries are paid to anyone in or involved with KingsWay Ministries; all gifts and donations are used to conduct the work of the Ministry. Our individual work efforts are offered as “love gifts”, to help make this a better World.
We offer our services “inter-denominationally”; that is, we are not affiliated with any group, church or denomination, yet we work with any and all groups in which Jesus is the center of their being. Our leaders are ordained ministers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
