Could be! Is Obama the anti-Christ? Definitely NOT!
No one knows when Jesus will return, not even Jesus Himself. However, the two events: the appearance of the anti-Christ, and the return of Jesus to take His rightful seat on the throne here on earth, are closely linked by a time line.
I have been studying the “End-Time” scenario (eschatology) for over 35 years, because I found it an interesting and “challenging” subject. Nothing else, save the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt and the birth of Christ, has or will affect the peoples of earth more than the events depicted in the books of Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, 1 Thess. and others regarding the end of “time”.
Most researchers, who have spent much more time and effort than I on this subject, will agree that there are certain things that must be accomplished or “line up” before Christ can return. Without going through that list or disputing over it, let me just state that these things HAVE already been achieved.
However, there is one item that is subject to many opinions; the rebuilding of the Temple of Solomon on what is known as “Temple Mount” in Jerusalem – the exact location of the present-day, gold-covered spire, the “Dome of the Rock”- the Muslim holy site (Haram Es Sharif (Noble Sanctuary)). The Scriptures say that Jesus will return and sit on His throne in the “rebuilt” Solomon’s Temple. Nowhere does it say that WE (humans) are charged to rebuild it! As He created the earth and all that is in it by speaking it into existence, He only has to speak it forth, and the new Solomon’s Temple can appear and the “Noble Sanctuary” will be noble no more! The Dome of the Rock won’t even be a pebble! So, let’s not get hung up on details!
Here, then, are a few of the things that will precede the second coming of Christ: First, the whole earth (governments) will be in turmoil (“wars and rumors of wars”). This will set the stage for the entrance of the anti-Christ, the one who can and will bring “world peace”.
Right now, the world is NOT in total chaos, so Obama would not be the one who brings the “world peace”. Strangely, some of the things on his (Obama’s) agenda could actually help to usher in that dreaded world disorder: reduction of our military forces and weapons, aligning of our Nation with renegade nations, and most shamefully, walking away from our sixty-one year alliance with Israel.
The United States was the first nation to recognize the sovereignty of the new State of Israel on 14 May 1948, and we vowed then to stand in alliance with them forever. Whether you like it or not, Israel IS “the chosen people of God”, and the Bible tells us that those who stand with Israel will receive God’s blessing. When Obama breaks our long-time relationship with Israel, he brings us out from under God’s “wings” of protection (Psa 91:4). Then we are subject to suffer from anything that may happen, alone, without God’s blessing.
Here is the generally-accepted time line (for when God DOES plan to send Jesus back): the charismatic anti-Christ will come and bring that world-wide peace the people are looking for, and will reign as the leader of the whole world for 3 ½ years. The people will love and worship him for the peace and prosperity he will be able to achieve.
Then, for the second 3 ½ year period, anti-Christ will show his true nature and lead the world into a self-destructive mode. It is then that the world will experience all the tribulations that are described in the Bible as being sent from Heaven . The earth has never seen or felt anything like what is in store. The harshest of global warming will be like a pleasant Sunday afternoon picnic compared to those things!
(I have a 7-hour “seminar” that I teach regarding all that will happen during that seven-year period – obviously far too much material to try to review in a short posting such as this!).
After all that, literally seconds before man totally destroys the earth, Jesus returns to “touch-down” on the Temple Mount. At that instant, the whole world will fall down and worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (for only believers will be here), and the 1,000 year totally-peaceful reign of Jesus will begin!
Oh, one final thing: the “Church” will NOT be here during the Tribulation period. In an extremely distilled view taken from my 7-hour seminar, the Church is not heard of after Rev. 4:1, when the trumpet of the archangel is sounded. Yet, in Chapter 19, Jesus returns to earth WITH the Church. So, during that time, the Church went somewhere!
If you don’t believe in the Rapture of the Church, that’s all right. I’ll wave at you as WE all go up together, to meet Jesus in the clouds!
